Sometimes I really crave something hot and sweet, but being diabetic I have to watch what I consume, well I have found a great healthy sweet tasting drink full of healthy benefits!

No calories, no fat, no saturated or bad trans fats, no carbs and no sugars! No preservatives and no caffeine! Red Rooibos tea is a naturally caffeine free tea that comes from a small shrubby bush only found in South Africa, and is considered a delicate plant.

The tea once seeped will leave the water a red color, and it has a natural sweet and nutty flavor. You can also find it with added vanilla for a little more sweetness, I have tried the one from Tetley as it is easier to find and is a little cheaper than some others I have seen in stores. It tastes even better with a little milk whipped into the tea with some splenda, and a dash of cinnamon. This has never caused a raise in my blood sugar because there are no extra sugars or carbs added.

Red Rooibos Tea can do many wonderful things for your health, it contains alot of minerals including copper, iron, potassium, calcium, floride, zinc, manganese, alpha hydroxy, and magnesium. Because it contains alpha hydroxy it is great for the skin, and this tea can be placed directly onto the skin to help reduce the aging effects of skin according to research.

Other research studies have proven Red Rooibos Tea to ease irritibility, headaches, nervous tension and insomnia, as well as acting as an anti- spasmodic agent, relieving stomach cramps and colic in babies. Rooibos has also been used to treat hay fever, asthma, and eczema.

Because of all the minerals contained in Rooibos tea it can strengthen your immune system.

The tea does not contain oxalic acid so it is safe for those who have had issues with kidney stones, and is also safe for pregnant and nursing mothers because it does not contain caffeine or tannin.

Overall I really enjoy Red Rooibos Tea with a little added vanilla for something a little different than my regular green and herbal teas.
