Showtime being aired on ABS-CBN Network is a top rating show before Wowowee. This variety/entertainment show premiered on October 24, 2009 and replaced "Pilipinas, Game KNB?." Said show is also being aired over The Filipino Channel that can be watched by Filipinos around the world.
Every Showtime, there are three groups to perform consisting of ten to twenty-five members (no age limit) whether singing, dancing, singing and/or dancing or acting performance. There's a 20 seconds intro for every performance. Aside from the three groups there will be one additional group to have their repeat performance. After every performance, each of the five judges will give their comments and ratings as well as what they called the "Madlang People" which is actually the studio audience of the said show. The group with the highest average score from the judges wins and will advance to the weekly finals. The winner of the weekly finals will compete in the monthly finals. Also, among the five judges it is only Vice Ganda is permanent. Every week one or more judges will be voted out by texters and replacement judge/judges will be introduced the following week.
I do love the show. It is very entertaining as to the group presentations, judges' commentaries and the audience participation. One thing good about this show is that they give kids and teenagers something worthy to do especially this vacation. Group performers around the Philippines join the said show to showcase their talents. Just like playing basketball, it will help them avoid getting into trouble, drugs or unworthy stuff during vacation and encourage them to show their talents, be proud of themselves and who knows be discovered.
Said show is being hosted by Anne Curtis (actress), Vhong Navarro (actor), Vice Ganda (comedian) Kim Atienza (TV reporter), Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz (band members).
