Before I delve into the thoughts that are running through my head right now, I believe some warning is appropriate. I warn that this article is more serious in tone than the other articles you might have read from me. I hope that by the end of reading this post, you guys not be discouraged and be sad of the realities but instead feel like you can do something to change this situation and change it for the better for yourselves as well as for others.

This topic is something that is very common. I believe that we all know it. This is how I want to show you how lucky we are, that we can still afford to waste money for unimportant things. This will be just a simple article, but I know that great things come from little ones.

According to Charles Darwin, if the misery of the poor be caused not by laws of nature, but by our institution, great is our sin. It is a bacterium that is fast eating not only our country, but the whole world.. Like slavery and apartheid, poverty is not natural. It is man-made and it can be overcome and eradicated by the actions of human beings. We can’t stop at once, but we can do something to eradicate it. Look at the pictures above, what can you see? What can you feel towards this people? What are you thinking? Do you see poverty? Do you pity them?

The youth are thought to be the hope of our future. Are we? Where are we at this very point of time? We are lost. We are making ourselves useless. We are wasting our life. We are looking for something more, where others cannot even have a percent of what we have. We are wasting hundreds and even thousands of money in a day, while others spend liters of their blood just to have a cent.

We are very lucky that we have the luxury of going online. Yes, it is a luxury. It is a want and not really a need. There are others that have never even experienced opening a computer, much less go online and explore the world wide web. As human beings, we are called to be aware of the situations surrounding us. Not just to look at it and reflect but to actually do something about it. It is our mission to help these people.

The poverty of our century is unlike that of any other. It is not, as poverty was before, the result of natural scarcity, but of set of priorities imposed upon the rest of the world by the rich. Consequently, the modern poor are not pitied… but written off as trash. Today’s consumer economy has produced the first culture for which a beggar is a reminder of nothing. I hope that in the future, we will see a better place not only for us, but most of all, for the future generations. Yes it is true, we are the ones responsible of our own life, but we are also created to help our brothers and sisters. I believe that by helping them we are also helping ourselves.
