I believe most of us always wait to go to the doctors. Why is this? Is it because we are afraid of them or just waiting for the problem to go away. I'm as guilty as everyone else, and i too don't know why i wait. Our doctor is an old friend of many years, and has seen us through our medical issues. He's always been there when we needed him and on call at home. Do we not want to bother them, or is it bad news that we hope not to get. Whether we need to go get our yearly physical, or see him for small medical issues, my family seems to put it off til we are so sick and it takes extra time and medication to get us feeling better. I do know of people who go for every little ache and pain, so maybe thats what keeps me away. I guess my family can be called "creatures of habits" for the whole family hates to go to the doctor, friend or not.
My husband didn't want to go when he was having chest pains, son has been sick with a cold for three weeks, and over the week-end i came down with an eye infection ( part of the start of a cold). I debated whether i should go to the doctors, but finally gave in and said why suffer with this, when i know its not going away.Tomorrow the son is going for his cold, and yes the husband did go too. I'm thinking its time to change our ways, before something serious happens to one of us. Why do we do this to ourselves?
Our friend/doctor has added a new member to his practice, his daughter. I think she's going to be a great doctor, like her dad. Maybe having a woman in the office will make me more comfortable, so i won't dread going as much.
