The Beatles are the most influential rock band of all time, and the 2000 release entitled "1" highlights their best work from 1962 until their breakup in 1970. The album is named simple "1" because it features all twenty seven of their number one hits. The songs are on the CD in chronological order, and it is very cool to listen to the progression in style of the band. From the simple 3-chord songs of the early sixties, to the rocking songs from their heyday, to the softer ballads of their later days, it is all on this album. My personal favorites from this album are "Eight Days a Week, " "We Can Work It Out, " "Hey Jude, " and "Come Together." This album is an essential for any Beatles fan to complete their collection. These songs undoubtedly changed the hisory of rock and roll and music in general. The overall sound quality is great, as all the songs were remastered and put in stereo. There are quite a few tracks on the album (27) but they all manage to fit onto one CD, as the sixties is know for short 2-3 minute songs. As far as originality goes, they have to get a 5 out of 5, because after all, they had more impact on our culture than any other band.
