I am not a big fan of Lowe's, or The Home Depot. As it so often happens, their specialists are either not there, when you need a question answered, or they might be making it up, on the spot. With that said and done, I shop these home improvement stores, because the prices are generally cheaper than going to a hardware store, for the larger ticket items.

A few months ago, I purchased the De Walt, 12 volt, compact drill, from Home Depot. I ordered it online, so I would not have to deal with going into the store. I love the internet for this kind of ordering, convenience.

De Walt brand is a great brand for power tools. My dad was a big De Walt comsumer. Like father, like son.

The average customer rating in this compact drill, was 4.9 out of a 5. I would go to see a movie on a rating like this.

I got the compact drill on a Friday. I remember, because I was so excited to blow off my Saturday afternoon of disc golf, with friends, so I could start building the tool shed over at my mom's house.

About an hour into the project at mom's, the drill began heating up and smelling like burnt plastic, then the drill just stopped and wouldn't go any longer. It was dead.

After running back home and getting the receipt and necessary paperwork, I headed down to Home Depot, with everything. I was concerned they would blow me off, because it was ordered online.

I went through the return desk, and someone from tools came to the desk to check out my dead drill. I was given the green light to either get the money, or get a new drill. I got a new drill. I still believed in De Walt.

The replacement was the same model. I finished my mom's project and all went well.

I have since used the compact drill for several projects now and I am pleased with the purchase.

It is light weight, which is good, and very gets into tight areas fairly well. It includes the standard carrying case, but not much for extra bits. I bought a variety pack, on sale.

This compact drill delivers 350 in lbs. torque, which is more than enough for most projects. It has a duel speed range and includes 2, 12 volt batteries with a one hour charger.

I do like the drill. I have found there are times the charger doesn't seem to give it the juice I expected it too. Over all, I can't complain. It beats out a lot of other drills on the market.
