We purchased this car back in 2007. The mileage when purchased was 27k. It was a good & reliable everyday car. Has perfect fuel efficiency (about 32mpg on highway). Everything was running OK until the mileage hits about 60k which was about 2 months ago. The problem starts with "warnings" we got on the speedometer screen stating "POWER STEERING". Then about 2 weeks after that, the car started to stall out by itself and jerked so bad whenever it's on low gear. It also made clicking noise. After 3 weeks on doing these, the power steering was finally out. We did a research online and was very surprised with the result we got. Hundreds of other people who also have 2005 chevy cobalt were having the same exact problem with us. It seems that these cars were producted with manufacturing failure. A lot of them have been putting a claim to GM but the answers were never satisfying. Most of them were also signing a petition and reporting this problem to the DOT website, asking for help so that these cars would be recalled by GM due to the safety issue. So far, we have not heard of anything about the recall.
