I collect Barbie Dolls. I was so thrilled when my sister-in-law brought this doll over to me today as a gift!
This Barbie Doll was ssued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the world's favorite fashion doll. Overall, this is a more faithful reproduction of the original 1959 Barbie doll than the previous one (issued in 1993 to celebrate Barbie's 35th anniversary).
Dressed in her signature "zebra-print" swimsuit with cat's eye sunglasses and gold hoop earrings; her blonde hair is styled in the original ponytail twist with 'poodle' bangs, Launched at the New York Toyfair in 1959, Barbie stormed the scene with her incredible wardrobe of couture clothes (which ranged from $1 to $5, according to the original television commercial!).
As a bonus you also receive the "Solo in the Spotlight" classic ... an early Barbie fashion ensemble. This is a form-fitting strapless black metal-weave gown with a net fishtail frill. The outfit is completed by long black gloves, triple-strand pearl necklace, black open-toed pumps, a pink scarf and a microphone stand.
A "vintage" booklet and "collector cards" with photos on one side and "fun facts" on the other also comes with this collector set.
Hihjly recommended for anyone who collects Barbies ... a wonderful addition to any collection!
