When I think Crabtree and Evelyn, I tend to think heavy rose and jasmine scents, or English Lavender soap. White-haired ladies with doilies on everything in their homes. I was pleasantly surprised to recently find the LaSource Spa line of products, especially the products for hands, that are not florally at all, but instead evoke the freshness of a sea breeze on a sunny day.
The 60-Second Fix Manicure set includes a 150 gm (ca. 5.3 oz) tube of hand repair scrub and the same size tube of moisturizer. On clean dry hands, apply a small amount of the scrub, and rub it into the backs and palms of your hands and along your fingers, then wipe it off with a clean paper towel, or rinse it off. The change in the texture of your hands is really amazing - they are suddenly much softer. Follow up with the moisturizer. I then apply the cuticle cream (a little under one ounce, for $12) to each fingernail bed and cuticle. My hands tend to look old and used; I worked as an archaeologist for many years, digging in the dirt, and I've continued to use my hands a lot more than many women do. "Cute" is far from how my cuticles looked. But, after a week of using the LaSource products twice a day, and buffing my nails, my hands looked like the freshly manicured hands of a lady of leisure. Be warned, though - if you don't keep it back, your hands revert to the old untamed look!
All the LaSource products contain shea butter, borage oil, and peppermint, mixed with mineral and salts from the ocean, and algae and seawweed to nourish your skin. They describe the scent as a "relaxing sea air fragrance" and it is, but without the eau de dead fish. These products have been featured in Allure and other magazines, and they are deserving of the 5 stars I've given them. I recommend them to everyone, whether you have dry and prematurely aging hands or not. You'll look marvelous.
