When we got married, a friend of mine gave us a Blanket in a Bag made by Avon. I am not sure what cloth it was made of, but it was something coarse and thin. And it was in a floral pink design that I am pretty sure my husband would not use. And most of all, it is for a single person!
I believe it is not a nice gift for a married couple on their wedding day, but I found good use for it. We are members of a local church and we have camps from time to time. Sometimes, the venue does not have linen and so we have to bring our own sheets. And most of the time, couples are being separated in order to become chaperons to the young people so my husband and I don't sleep together. It is during these times that I found good use for this blanket. It is not thick so it is light, just perfect for our temperate weather, and just enough to cover me and protect me from the evening dew and mosquitoes.
Additionally, since it is thin it is easily washable either by machine or by hand. It dries off pretty fast too even if just wind dried.
I am not sure how much this costs because it was a gift, but I guess for a single person, this works. And for outings, too. Just not for the marriage bed.
