A Bronx Tale was Robert DeNiro's directorial debut. This movie takes place in, of course, the Bronx. Robert DeNiro plays Lorenzo Anello, a bus driver who is earning his living the honest way and is steering clear of the mob. When his son is befriended by the mob boss, Sonny (played by Chazz Palminteri), it is a major cause of concern for Lorenzo. The boy wants to please his father but is also influenced by his new friend, and struggles abound.
This is a gritty movie with good acting and a good story to tell. I've watched it several times with my husband, and we both have always enjoyed it. The movie is 122 minutes long, rated R, and the copy I own has interactive menus containing cast bios, multiple language tracks, scene selections, and original theatrical trailer.
A Bronx Tale is a good movie if you enjoy the struggle between good and evil and movies dealing with the mob. It is not for young children, therefore the R rating.
