Brookville, Indiana is located not far from the border of Ohio. It's about an hour trip from Cincinnati.
We have made this a family vacation for many years first of all with our own children when we would go to Brookville Lake and spend the day swimming, picnicking and having fun.
As our children grew older and we had grandchildren, we all would go camping as a family. Everyone with their own campsite and tents usually in an area right next to each other. The sites are equipped with electric hook up and also has a picnic table and a grill and fire pit.
The average fee is $4 at the gate and you keep a pass by your front window and you're free to come and go for as long as you are using the camp site. Sunday through Wednesday the fee is $17 per day for the camp site and $25 for Thursday through Saturday.
Each camp area has a fully equipped bathroom and shower accomodations. They are cleaned daily and kept in pretty good order. The area we were at was called the Mounds. There are camp stores located on the park premises during the season. Swimming at the beaches is free but is closed at the end of the season and there are no life guards present then.
Of course, you bring your own food and that's part of the adventure. Especially s'mores around the campfire at night..
