I have always been fond of dressing up and I have handed this fondness to my child. This Chinese cheongsam or Mandarin Gown was worn by my baby during her cousin's birthday but also served a purpose during the Chinese New Year. Although, my family has chinese heritage, we have not followed any Chinese traditions eversince although from time to time there are chinese beliefs that somehow got incorporated with our filipino family traditions.
I love the color of this cheongsam because red and yellow signifies royalty and it also signify happiness. My daughter is my princess and thus yellow and red serves her well. Besides that, my dughter does look good in red.
The cheongsam is also one of the best way to appreciate our heritage and by wearing it gives one pride, dignity and honor to a past that has long been forgotten by our family. I hope that my daughter gets to somehow re-live the moments of our ancestry.
This cheongsam really made my daughter shine when she wore it during her cousin's birthday. I add a little fan as an accesory since the cheongsam can make you perspire when wearing it for a long time in a tropical country.
All in all, my daughter likes this dress that she wore it the first time she saw it one my shopping basket.
