The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle was a book I loved as a child so I was quick to introduce it to my own daughter. All of Carle's books are great for kids, but this has always stood out as a favorite to me.
The drawings are creative and colorful. The story is simple and educational. It teaches concepts of science, color, numbers, food, and recognition. I've been reading it to my child since she was only a few weeks old and now it is one of the titles she is happy to bring down from the shelf and request me to read to her. She likes to point at the different foods, count the fruit, and is still amazed by the transformation of the caterpillar to beautiful butterfly at the end.
I'm proud to have this book on her shelf and I would give it as a gift to any child. It is a true classic!
