My flat iron took a big nose-dive a couple weeks ago, so I was on the hunt for a new one. The last flat iron I had was a Chi iron, and I loved it. It was also very expensive so I wasn't real crazy about the idea of replacing it again.
I went to my local beauty supply store and shuddered at the cost of the flat irons. (Did I really need to straighten my hair? Couldn't I do something else instead?) I had a war going on in my head between the price, and the need of this product. Need won!
Although I wanted a Chi iron, I ended up with an Infra Shine flat iron because it was on sale. I was told that the same company that Chi uses for their irons manufactured the ceramic plates on the iron. Even though I was skeptical, I purchased it anyway.
Wow! When I got it home to use it, I was pleasantly surprised to find features that my Chi iron never had. First of all it's got pink ceramic hot plates, and controls. There are pink ‘Infra Shine' logos all over it too. As you may have guessed, a portion of my payment was donated toward breast cancer research. The feature I liked the most was the dial to regulate how hot you wanted it depending on your hair type. That's something my Chi iron didn't have. And the best part? It works just as well as the Chi.
Infra Shine comes in 3 sizes, small (1/2 inch), medium (1 inch- which is what I got), and large (2 inches). They're still on the expensive side, so it depends on how important it is for you to get a good flat iron, for you to think this is worth it.
