We purchased the Rainbow Grey Futon/Sleeper Sofa to use in our playroom. We wanted something comfortable the kids could sit on when the were playing video games or watching TV but since the play room was also our guest bedroom, we needed a place for someone to sleep as well. We knew we wanted something along the lines of a futon so we looked around for one that we actually liked and fit our decor. While looking for something else in American Signature Furniture we came across this one and it was just the style and color we were looking for.
This is an armless futon and it is covered in a grey/blue micro fiber material. It has a black base and black metal legs giving it a clean, contemporary look. The only assembly that it needed was that we had to screw the legs on. To change if from a sofa to a bed, you simply push the back forward a little until you hear a click which will release it and then fold it back. It is larger than a regular twin bed when it is open so it could sleep two adults if they don't mind being close together. One adult or two children fit really well.
My son and occasionally his friends abuse this poor sofa daily. My son plays his video games, sitting, standing and jumping on it. So far it has held up well under the abuse. The only two problems I have noticed with it is that there is a slight dip that has formed in the seat in one spot because my son always seems to sit in that exact spot and when it is opened to a bed, there is a tiny squeak. My son has spilled things on it more than once and all spots have cleaned off with a damp towel.
For the price we paid, we are very happy with the look and the quality of this futon. My kids also love the look and say it comfortable to sit on and sleep on too.
Update On Feb 28, 2010: Amazingly we have had this futon over 3 years now and it still is doing great. My son and his friends jump around on it all day playing video games and my son ends up sleeping on it most nights. This was one of our better buys.
