When our old cordless phone gave up the ghost, we decided to go shopping for something a little more modern. Our last one was created in the telecommunications Stone Age. So off we marched to our friendly neighborhood Fry's to see what they had to offer. Being a tech freak, I was entranced by all the shiny new choices available. The sales consultant showed us the Uniden and I knew we had to have it. Not only does it have a sleek modern look, it offered a wonderful variety of features.

The handsets are light and fit perfectly in the hand. The backlit screen affords you a clear highly visible view of time, date and any messages waiting. This is very helpful when the phone rings in the wee hours of the morning. You can configure this set with up to 5 handsets which is great for larger homes. One feature we love is the walkie talkie function. If someone is working outdoors or in the garage, you can simply use this feature to communicate. There is also a baby monitor feature which is very helpful when baby is upstairs or you have active toddlers in a room. I love the In Use message. It helps us be aware of phones possibly off the hook and helps us avoid the "You picked up that phone on purpose" arguments.

The 5.8 GHZ band is more secure than the old 2.4, and Uniden phones are highly encrypted. The set is easy to set up and program. We had ours done in 10 minutes. If the detailed instruction book isn't enough, Uniden support is great!

The battery life on these phones is very long, in fact longer than any other phones we've owned, and this is with heavy use. Whether you buy one handset or 5, you will enjoy years of safe secure calling on these well designed durable phones.
