Image for A Great Laptop!

I bought this laptop at a crazy sale early in the morning at Walmart. It was much cheaper than it usually cost (less by about $150) and was really surprised when I used it. For $300, you can't get much better. I used the laptop very extensively for my school work. Later in the year, I also used this laptop for gaming and rather high-level games (Halo, Dawn of War, etc.) work rather well with the laptop. The graphics are great for such a inexpensive laptop.

Well, I am a person that is never satisfied with a Operatins System that stinks, and well, the laptop came with Vista Basic. Yeah, that's about as bad as it gets. I downloaded and burned Ubuntu 9.04 to a disk and installed it on the system. Everything worked perfectly; the laptop prooved itself great yet again. Now I am dual-booting Windows 7 (The absolute best OS that came out of Windows so far, by the way!!) and Ubuntu, and everything works like a charm; I couldn't ask for better.

The laptop comes with a 2Ghz processor (rather fast!) and 2GB of RAM as well. I believe you can add 2 more GB of RAM (Which costs about $25) to the laptop, which will almost double the speed. It also comes with built in wifi (what kind of laptop doesn't nowadays?) that I use a lot for whenever I'm out of my house going mobile.

The keyboard, touchpad and buttons built into the laptop all work very well. There are two simple shutdown and wifi buttons that glow different colors and blink depending the power/wifi status of the laptop, which is very helpful. The touchpad works as you would expect, but there's nothing special about it. The keyboard also works very well, and I find it very easy to type with it compared to regular desktop keyboards. (I can and need to type fast for reviews, so this is all the better!) There are 3 USB ports, a Internet LAN connection, a modem connector, and a output for the screen all on the laptop. The one problem I have with this is that all the ports are on the side, so it looks slightly messy compared to laptops where the ports are all in the back.

Overall, I really, really enjoy this laptop, and especially for the cheap pricetag, it can't be beat! For all my uses it was a very good buy and I won't need a replacement for awhile.
