As parents, we all want the best for our child. We provide for the best clothes, best homes, best toys, and best education as much as we can. But sometimes, what we overlook is their spiritual aspect.
A couple of months ago, my husband and I decided on getting The Power of a Praying Parent book by Stormie Omartian published by Harvest House Publishers. She is the same author of the book The Power of a Praying Wife, which I had been using for a couple of years already. Since I have already read one of her books, I know the writing style of Ms. Omartian.
As usual, she shares the lessons that she has learned over the years as a mother herself. She also shares the stories of those she has counselled in relation to the particular topic to pray for a child.
Many parents have so many different concerns about their children, such as growing up, obedience, making choices, their friends, education, etc. These and other subjects are dealt with in the book and the prayers are backed up by bible verses.
The book is not so complicated to understand. In fact, it is self explanatory. After discussing each chapter lengthily, Ms. Omartian goes with a prayer guide and then ends with the key verses for the issue. These verses are the promises of God on the prayer item and a parent can just use these verses and claim them for their children.
I would recommend this book to every parent who believes in God and in the power of prayer.
