When we moved to Sacramento, we knew we were going to need a new mattress badly. Since my husband had a slipped herniated disc in his back, and had to do a lot of lifting at work, we knew finding a good supportive mattress was important. It took us 6 months of research and looking to find just the right mattress for our needs.
The Pure Comfort Elite is a mattress made in heaven! It has a beautiful cotton and silk damask covering, 875 solid steel coils and a double pillowtop filled with silk, cashmere and wool. This mattress carries a 25 year warranty. The box spring is made with the same soft covering and a very sturdy base. Together they bring this mattress set height to almost 20 inches.
After 6 years of sleeping on this wonderful mattress it's still fully supportive and the covering is as perfect as the day it was delivered. The pillowtops are still full and resilient, which attests to the quality ofr this bed. To help keep this mattress fresh, I have turned it every two weeks since we purchased it. This has helped rotate the pressure spots and keep any wear even and minimized across the entire piece.
The only drawback to this bed is the cost of linens for it. Because of its height, it requires deep pocket sheets which are expensive. Plus this is a very heavy mattress which requires two people to turn it, and 3 to rotate it.
But if you want that perfect marriage of plush comfort coupled with ultra firm support this is the ideal mattress for your needs. The store we purchased this from is no longer there, so I'm searching online to see if I can find another venue for it, if I ever need to replace it.
Update On Jun 08, 2008: Alexsandralyn found the manufacturers of my mattress for me!!!! How cool is this:) I thought this mattress was unusually high quality, but had no idea it was made with organic materials. That explains the quality of this thing. They don't make my model any longer(:_, but offer similar ones for the same price.
The company is Arhaus in LA.
