I am really not the biggest John Grisham fan, however I absolutely love this book A Painted House. It is a simple story about a little boy living on a farm and picking cotton, but the story is filled with drama, suspense and innocence.

I have read this book many times, almost to the point of annoying my friends and family. A Painted House is one of those books that I could read a million times and not grow tired of it. As I am a major Hemmingway fan, sometimes I need a break from Ernest, and A Painted House is a great book to relax with when I need a change in authors.

I wish that there was a sequel to this book, as I am always left wondering what happens when Luke, Jessie and Kathleen leave the cotton patch and head north in search of a better life. I wonder if Ricky makes it home safe from Korea and what becomes of Pappy and Gran...

If you haven't read this book, you should. It is a heart warming story that is simple yet entertaining.
