Based on the amazing novel by Nicholas Sparks, the movie starring Shane West and Mandy Moore exceeds expectations, well and truly. While differences can be made between the book and the movie, the characters come to life on film. The love shared between the main charaters, is one that is both challenging and sad. Jamie (Moore) and Landon (West) prove that love lives on and can survive anything. Mandy Moore gave an excellent Jamie and I can not think of anyone better suited for the role. While I do not share the same beliefs as Jamie, I cannot help admire her faith in people and in God. A rare find in people. Landon is the bad boy turned good after falling for Jamie, in spite of her specific request. The wedding in a church held by Jamie’s father, a baptist minster, was heart breaking and heart warming. The end while tragic with Jamie losing her strong fight with cancer, leaves you with hope and faith in love and people themselves. I love this movie and after watching it, have highly recommended it to a number of people. It moved my dad to tears, who is not someone who cries often, if at all. Tissues are highly recommended.
