Claire was the rock in her family. She cooked, cleaned, balanced carpool, activities, a marriage, a child with severe allergies, a dying mother, and a multi million dollar business. Well rounded and almost like Super Woman, it was a big surprise when she returned home from her mother's hospital bedside and be served with divorce papers and police escorted out of her home. The allegations that her husband had made were not only ridiculous and false, but hurtful. He accused that she was too busy for her family. He accused that her child with severe allergies, Kit Kit, had bad allergic reaction because of something Claire had provided to eat. Dennis, her husband also accused her of sleeping with their best friend and co-worker Brody. Having been banned from her house and children she sought out legal counsel. Brody had found her someone who would not judge that she was succesful, but instead help her and want to help her. He knew just who to call, his ex-girlfriend Cameron. Although Cameron was an excellent lawyer, she was no match for Judge Sewley who hated working women since he was cheated on by one. He showed extreme bias in his ruling and Claire was left with nothing temporarily. While a guardian was assigned to their case to see who would be a fit parent and if the kids were adjusting and ok, Claire did find comfort in Brody. She never would have thought to look there had her husband not put the bug in her ear. After Claire's mom passes away she finds herself looking back on her life and she sees things differently. Although this was an awful situation it ends up helping her be happier and she finds out who she really is and who she was before she was married. The only thing I felt was off about this book was that the ending felt a little rushed. Other than that it pulled me in from page one. A great read and great story. I felt myself really agonising for Claire.
