I purchased this book for the history of Photography course I took in college. It is a Third Edition written by Naomi Rosenblum and it is 695 pages long and quite heavy.

The book follows the history of photography from it's start (1839 - 1875) up through the 1950's. The photographs and examples offered throughout the book are stunning and some of the best photography you will find. Not to mention the history that is written on the pages with them. The photographs are all in black and white and there are hundreds of them throughout the book. There are also diagrams of the different types of cameras and showing how the camera works and how much the cameras have changed throughout the years.

This is a very relaxing book to look through and read. Of course I bought it for a class but I still enjoy it now.It is very calming to just look through the pages at the beautiful photographs after a stressful day or if I am looking to be inspired. I recomend this book to any up and coming photographer or just anyone who enjoys great photography.
