When my mom recently moved into an assisted living facility, I noticed that almost every tenant had a seasonal wreath on the door for fall. As I walked up and down the halls, I enjoyed looking at the different decorations on the doors. Not wanting my mom to feel left out, I purchased a leaf and pumpkin wreath from Wal-Mart. It was in the traditional gold, orange, and brown colors for fall. It had fall leaves, and medium sized pumpkins all around the wreath. But it was missing something. It needed a little sprucing up to make it really attractive.
So I purchased some gorgeous fall ribbon in matching colors to the leaves and pumpkins, and also bought some leaves with glitter on them to really add sparkle to the wreath.
I had a great time that night adding the "glitz" to the already lovely wreath. I made a nice bow at the top, with long streamers, and then hot glued the additional glittery fall leaves around the wreath.
What had started out as an okay wreath, was suddenly spectacular! So if you are thinking of purchasing an already made wreath, but can't always find exactly what you want, try embellishing it with a ribbon or other accessories.
This wreath was so reasonably priced, and already attractive, but with a few extra touches, it became beautiful. Nothing seems to say "Welcome" like a gorgeous wreath on the door. And they can be switched out throughout the year, according to the holiday season.
