This glucose meter is the one recommended to me by the pharmacist. There were three models of Accu-Chek glucometer available at the pharmacy with the varying prices of $29.95, $39.95, $89.95. I chose this model which was priced at $39.95 because the pharmacist said that it is good and there's no much difference as to function as well as it is the best-selling.
I found this model very fast- a fast 5-second test. The blood sample that it needs is really just a bit- as in a droplet. Compared to the glucose meter that I used to borrow from my sister-in-law, this model is definitely faster. The one that my sister-in-law has requires a bit more of blood that oftentimes mess up the test strip and creates error in the reading.
The only problem I have with this product is that the needle is contained in a revolver-like drum. It needs to be loaded to the lancing device. Every after use I have to revolve the bottom part of the device and wait for a click sound which indicates that the next needle is ready for use. The problem is I cannot do the revolving properly and I keep on waiting for the click sound. Thus, I have to do it repetitively. I am getting better though with the revolving lately. Perhaps in just few more use and I will be good at it. I think it is just a matter of getting used to it.
I use this device for my husband who was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. I also use it sometimes to monitor my blood glucose.
The best thing about my purchase of this device is that I have refunded the full price from our family health fund. It is like having this device free.
