When it comes to computers, I want things to be plug-and-play, no hassle, set it and forget it. That is exactly what the Acer 1714 monitor is! The monitor is quite old, some years I believe, but it has been going strong. You cant find it too easily nowadays since its old, but if you come upon a used one for a good deal, get it! Beforehand this monitor was my older brothers, he treats things perfectly, including the monitor. A year ago he wanted a widescreen, so he bought one - and gave me this 17" Acer monitor for me to use, since I didnt have a LCD monitor. All I needed to do was plug in just two cords, and it was set! Thats it! I turned my computer on, and after the Acer logo appeared everything went smoothly on, just how it was meant to be. This was truly a set it and forget it thing!
Eventually I decided to mess around with the settings one day when I was bored. There are just 5 buttons on the monitor - Power, Menu, right arrow, left arrow, and Auto. I pressed Menu, and not to my surprise, a menu appeared. Also not to my surprise I pressed the arrows to move around the options, and Menu to select, and Auto to go back. The Menu actually tells you what button does what at each stage, so even the most forgetful person will have no problem adjusting settings! Now about the settings, they are just your average monitor settings - Brightness, Contrast, location, the normal stuff. Overall I like this monitor very much, its very simple and easy to use!
