The Acer Aspire 5100 is a darn good computer for a darn good price. I had been shopping for a new laptop for some time looking for a the best deal. Basicly, I was looking for the fastest processer with the most ram for the lowest price. I found what I was looking for at newegg and I have had zero problems with this wonderful piece of machinery. It comes pre installed with Windows Vista Home Premium. While alot of people have there particular qualms with Vista, I found my transition from XP to be relatively pain free and so should you. Besides a few things being renamed and some pretty sweet eye candy, nothing has changed from xp. There is not very much pre-installed software which in my opinion is a must these days. Most stuff that comes with computers are garbage and this comes with just some hardware specific tools to monitor battery usage and networking options as well as a little program that can encrypt your sensitive data. This program has a AMD turion64 CPU which clocks in at 2.0 ghz and 1 gig of ram. That is more than sufficent to run intensive music programs like cubase and photo editing programs like photoshop. While the graphics card is not a gaming powerhouse, it will definently get you by. The best part about that is it has a monitor input and can have you running dual monitors in no time. All in all I think this is the best laptop on the market presently.
