I am always leary of these types of products because my skin is so sensitive. I usually break out worse, my skin gets extremely dry, or it doesn't do anything for me at all. I read a lot of reviews on Amazon, a couple here, and other places before making my purchase. I was pretty confident that the product would work by the time I came to the decision to go ahead and give it a try.
So, I ordered, and received, it. It came with a purifying cleanser, renewing toner, and repair lotion. The toner, to me, is like an astringent. The box says to use it twice a day, morning and night. So, I faithfully used it as recommended. Big mistake! My face turned red, chemical burn, and swelled up. I was freaked out since I have never had anything this severe happen. I was ready to call the company and give them a piece of my mind when I decided to read over the box again to see side effects. Indeed, these are included.
Did I throw it out you ask? Of course not, I figure I would go on and burn the rest of my skin up. Seriously, it says that when that happens to use it less often or even dilute it. It is the Benzoyl Peroxide that caused it. I now use it once a day, usually at night, and it is amazing. I also stopped using the toner and lotion. I use my own moisurizer that I love so I don't need this one.
Using the cleanser alone has drastically reduced the size of my pores. That was always the worst on my face, they looked like scars. My face hasn't cleared up all the way but I don't have small pimples everywhere now. Maybe one or two big ones once in a while. I have only been using the product for a couple of weeks so I am going to give it more time. The box says results in 3 days and they mean it. I definitely saw an improvement the 3rd day in the reduction of the size of my pores and the result of a chemical burn all over.
Anyways, I didn't give it 5 smiley's because of what it did to my face but that has more to do with my skin than the product. This is definitely cheaper than Pro-Active but I can't compare the effectiveness because I have never tried it. But, if you have $20 to spend and need an acne plan, this is it!
