Unless you've been living on another planet, you are aware of Adam Lambert, last seasons runner-up on American Idol. His amazing vocals and his Hollywood handsome, yet flamboyant looks are becoming more famous by the day. His recent controversial performance on a live television awards show have put him all over the news.
Though Adam did not win American Idol, it has not deterred him from becoming a household name and successful artist in a very short time.
As a fan of American Idol and an even bigger fan of Adam Lambert, I was looking forward to his first CD. At the same time, I was afraid I wouldn't like it since it's targeted to a more youthful audience. When the CD went on sale, I bought it right away, anxious to hear what he had created outside the confines of American Idol. I was not disappointed.
Adam is openly gay and makes no effort to portray anything different on this CD. He and his record company took a risk by going this route as they must have known it would cost them some sales. One of the things I admire about Adam is that he is comfortable in his own skin and doesn't pretend to be something he isn't just to further his career.
The 14 songs on the CD range from ballads to pop, rock and dance club tunes. Each song showcases his spectacular vocals. To me, there is not a single bad song, something I can't say about most CDs I own.
If you liked Adam on American Idol, you will love this CD. It's fun and unpredictable, just like Adam. I'm already looking forward to his next venture and feel he has the musical talent and stage presence to become a major star in the years to come.
Update On Jul 01, 2010: Adam's first tour is now underway and he will be performing in my hometown. I have great seats for this show and look forward to a night of crazy, fun entertainment.
