It is barely five months left before the Presidential Elections here in the Philippines which, I think, is the worst in the country’s history. Election-related crimes and scandals are rampant on the news (on television, radio, internet and newspaper). To some it is almost hopeless.
But for many there is still a chance for a successful election, where one will be chosen to lead a better change and improvement for our country.
One of the first groups established to awaken nationalism among Filipinos is the launching of “Ako Mismo†Movement, where every member will be declare their personal fledge on how they can become a good citizen for our country. They share their promises to everyone, so others will follow to become a better Filipino, starting from them selves.
Membership in this movement is represented by a Dog Tag, which is usually worn by members of the army. For a small price of Php40.00 (less than a dollar), one member makes monetary contribution to a beneficiary (an institution for the poor). A small amount represents a big help to the unfortunate ones.
Through this dog tag, I promise to become a good example to everyone around me. Through this dog tag, I oblige myself to become a good citizen. Through this dog tag, I am reminded to become a good Filipino.
