Because I have sensitive skin, I have been using All Free Clear Liquid Laundry Detergent. I buy the 100 fl. oz. bottle at Walmart for approximately $4.37. The bottle states that it will do 64 loads. Now I have not actually counted how many loads I get out of one bottle of detergent, so I cannot say if this is the case. I do know, though, that I get quite a few loads from one bottle before I need to purchase it again, and I may do a wash two or three times a week, if not more often.
This detergent is free of perfumes and dyes and also is very effective at cleaning the clothes. It contains stainlifters for those tough stains, and I have been surprised to see stains come out of fabrics that I thought would be permanently ruined. It is the number one dermatologist recommended detergent for those with sensitive skin and is even recommended by pediatricians, so I certainly feel good about using it on my family's clothes.
All Free Clear is manufactured by Lever Brothers and is safe for all high efficiency washing machines. It is also safe for hand washable garments and can be used with bleach and with septic tanks. I have been using it for a few years so far and have been pleased enough with the results to not feel the need to change detergents. I use it for all of my laundry needs. My husband doesn't have skin that is quite as sensitive as mine, but he can develop reactions to certain substances. He also likes the idea of having his clothes washed in detergent which is not loaded down with fragrance and dyes. None of those things are needed to get clothes clean and can, in fact, create problems for those individuals who have skin problems and suffer from allergic reactions easily.
If I have an especially stubborn stain to deal with, I will pour a little extra detergent on the stain and allow it to presoak. For the most part, I have found that mostly all of the stains come out completely or lighten to the point where they are not very visible. With repeated washings, even the most stubborn stains will usually disappear.
I see myself continuing to use All Free Clear with Stainlifters on a regular basis, as I have not had any problems with it and have always had my family's clothes come out very nicely. I would recommend this detergent for those who have sensitive skin and allergy problems.
