When I purchased a brand new car in the Fall of 2006 I was on the search for cheap car insurance. What happened was when I moved down to Florida I still had Michigan insurance on my car. When that car died and I bought a new one, I needed Florida insurance QUICK to drive my brand new car off the lot!
I called around to a lot of places and finally settled on Allstate. They were the ones that were able to provide me the best coverage for around the premium that I could afford to pay at the present time. I currently pay around $650 for 6 months of coverage. They let me do a payment plan so I pay a little bit each month, right around $110.
My coverage includes $100, 000/$300, 000 for bodily injury, $50, 000 for property damage, and $50, 000 for personal injury protection. My collision deductible is set at $500 while I have a $0 deductible for comprehensive. I chose the $0 deductible because it was only $41 more and comprehensive includes everything from scratches and dings in parking lots to my car being stolen! If my car got stolen I would rather pay $41 then $500 if you know what I mean. :o) I also have rental reimbursement if my car is ever in the shop and they offer that to me for a maximum of 30 days for each occurance. I do also believe I have roadside assistance with them as well.
I have yet to make a claim *crosses fingers* so I can't really advise how they are with working on claims. However every single time I have called them they have always been super friendly and answered any and all of my questions.
If you are shopping around for car insurance I would definitely suggest you check out Allstate. You never know they might be cheaper then you think and can save you quite a bit of money. They certainly did for me!
