I have dark brown eyes and I tend to wear eye shadows in shades of brown and purple. When I found the Almay eye colors designed especially for specific eye colors, I decided to try out the one for "playing up the brown."
I liked the idea of putting colors together that would make specific eye colors "pop." For brown eyes, shades of lavender, bright purple, light pink, teal, and chocolate are color enhancing shades. In this particular eye shadow collection, there is a lavender shade, a dark brown shade, and an off-white shade. The product is designed for the use of all three colors at once. The purple shade is swept across the entire eyelid, the brown is just dabbed into the crease, and the off-white is used above the eyes.
I really like the colors in this set. Sometimes, I use Almay's instructions and wear all three shades together. Other times, I'll just wear one shade. All three colors look good as the main eye shadow color without needing the others.
While I really like the colors and the texture of the eye shadow, the colors go on pretty light. It takes quite a bit to see any color (and I say that as someone who doesn't cake on the makeup). Additionally, the eye shadow doesn't seem to last as long as I would like. Overall, it's a good product, but if you want something that doesn't require any touch ups, this may not be the best.
Almay also makes these eye shadows for blue and green eyes. There are additional products available to complete the look, including eye liners and mascaras.
