I fly a lot and used to be a very loyal customer with American Airlines, but not anymore.

I had a really bad experience with gate checking a very expensive and brand new stroller-- it was trashed by the time our flight arrived-- totally unuseable. American Airlines told me they did not have to do anything as I waived my rights when I gate checked it; to which I responded that they had the responsibilty to at least try to not damage the item-- it looked liked it had been runover-- both axels were bent and the wheels had come off, the fabric had been ripped all down the back. They rudenes and general apathy about helping the customer did nothing to ease my anger and general bewilderment at their attitude.

They also do not give a discount for buying a ticket for a child under 2, this is one of the few airlines that do not do this-- they said to buy another adult fare ticket. They also do not allow pre-boarding for people with children; honstly that's a deal killer for me; its too hard to manage a child, carryons and car seats when people are trying to rush to get to their seat.

refuse to fly this airlines ever again; whcih is sad as it is the only airline that offers direct flights to where my extended family lives. it certainly has made it harder on me to get there, but I'd rather put up with some inconvenience than ever deal with American Airlines.
