I came across this cookbook when I was organizing my recipe books to add to my kitchen shelf. I just loved Betty Crocker cookbooks. They have easy to follow directions as well as clear illustrations of different kinds of foods that the average cook or new-to-cooking person(s) can do. This special 40th anniversary edition combines the traditional with the contemporary. It is also the 7th edition in the Betty Crocker cookbook series. Wow! Where have the years gone? I've had this book for about 19 years, and have only used it at least 10 times. Maybe that's the reason it stayed in good condition.
You will find helpful sections called "Cooking with Confidence" (p. 6-10) and "Special Helps"( p.404-418) that cover all aspects of cooking, from kitchen setup and equipment basics to setting a table for formal dinners to informal. Other features that you may find pleasing are: complete nutritional information for each recipe at the end of each chapter, fix-it-fast section that provide time-saving ideas for the busy cook and main dishes that can be made in 30 minutes or less. There are at least 200 photographs with presentation ideas; identification of meats, fruits, vegetables, pasta, cheeses and herbs as well as how-to photos to make recipes easy. I have added a few photos from the book to give some idea as to what this book covers. Enjoy reading and cooking from this book, if you are able to obtain it.
