It happened again. And every time it does, it makes me feel old. Don't you hate it when a favourite product you have been using for years gets discontinued? This time it happened to the make up foundation I had been using since high school. So strap yourselves in, folks, I will be reviewing make up until I find a new faithful favourite product to call my own!

The first one I tried was Maybelline Wonder Finish. It piqued my interest because it sounded so unique. It is a liquid foundation that smooths on and blends like only a liquid can, but then dries to a thin, powder finish.

I had high hopes that this would work great for my skin. First of all, I prefer a foundation that is very thin and light. I'm not trying to hide acne or wrinkles, just trying to smooth out my complection, so thick, cakey foundations are a no-no in my book! I also really liked the sound of the liquid/powder combination. I have combination skin that is mostly dry with a few oily patches. Since powders are best for oily skin, and liquids work so well with dry skin, I was hoping to get the best of both worlds.

After using this for a couple weeks, I can say that it delivers what it promises. It goes on cool and smooth, and dries well. Liquid to powder really is the best way to describe it. I have nothing bad to say about the product itself. Unfortunately, it and I are not meant to be.

My problem with this make up is that it dries too dry for my already-dry skin. On the areas of my face that are normally oily, it covered beautifully, but on the dry areas it looked flakey, and only looked worse as the day went on. By the end of the day, the dry areas looked almost pastey... like my make up had been painted on. It was simply too dry for my skin type.

Even though it wasn't for me, I still think this is a solid product. It is oil free, fragrance free, hypoallergenic, and works the way it says it will. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone with all-over oily or shiney skin. I would even go so far as to say that, Maybelline Wonder Finish does wonders on it!
