So with the year more than half over, are there any movies left worth getting excited about? The short answer is...YES! The long answer, well that depends on you and what you like. With most of the big budget, mass appeal, summer movie already showing, getting fired up to see a movie will depend on what kind of movie you like. So the question is, are you an Action Junkie, Total Drama, Horror Fan or Kid Friendly movie person?
For the Action Junkie:
Conan The Barbarian, August 19th. The reboot to the 1980's Arnold classic comes to theaters in 3D. I wouldn't expect Oscar winning acting but I'm looking forward to mindless entertainment, cool special effects and over the top action.
Immortals, November 11th. Riding the popularity of "300", Immortals follows Theseus as he battles mythological evil in ancient Greece. Mickey Rourke looks the part and gives me hope that this 3D movie will have some good acting mixed in with lots of action.
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, December 21st. Tom Cruse latest installment of the Mission movies actually looks better than the second M.I. When the IMF is shut down "Ghost protocol" is implemented and Ethan Hunt and his team goes undercover to stop a global terrorist threat. The real mission, can Tom Cruse keep his career afloat?
If you're into Drama try:
Abduction, September 23rd. Taylor Lautner breaks away from his teen wolf character and finds himself in the middle of a mystery. Who are his real parents and why are people trying to kill him?
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt 1, November 18th. The last installment of the Twilight series is broken into two parts. If Harry Potter can do it, why not?
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, December 21st. A remake and based on a popular novel, we have a dangerous mystery unfolding as an institution pulling the strings behind the scenes is exposed. Sound cryptic? It is.
Don't be a chicken, for Horror try:
Shark Night 3D, September 2nd. A group of teens go to a vacation home on a weekend break at a lake...hmmmm, what can possibly happen? SHARKS!
Paranormal Activity 3, October 21st. If you are expecting to see what happens after part 2 ends you'll be disappointed. Not much word on the movie except it follows a different family and it takes place in the 80's.
Piranah 3DD, November 23rd. It's Piranha's at a water park. Don't expect much.
Feeling childish, for kid's movies try:
Spy Kids: All the time in the world 4D, August 19th. A new generation of spy kids take over to stop Armageddon. I can't guarantee how the movie will be but I can guarantee Robert Rodriguez will make a lot of money. My kids love spy kids movies.
Puss in Boots, November 4th. Dreamworks Studio are no dummies. Prequels are hot and cartoons are no exceptions. We find Puss (from Shrek) in the early years crossing swords and breaking hearts.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, December 16th. Alvin and the gang are having the time of their lives on a cruse when the ship wrecks on a desert island. Now they have to sing and dance their way out of trouble. Will Dave be able to find and save them?
So yes, there is a lot to look forward to as we pass the half way mark of 2011. Other notable movies included, Colombiana (Aug 26th), Real Steel (Oct 7th), Three Musketeers (Oct 21st), A very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas (Nov 4th), 11-11-11, (Nov 11th), and Darkest Hour (Dec 25th).
