I change my laundry detergent based on what the best deal is every week. Usually I try not to spend more than $8.00 on any brand and often I wait to see which brand will be the best deal before I'll actually decide on what product will clean my clothes for the week. Usually I stay away from the really inexpensive brands but when a brand that I know and trust is on sale, I have no problem picking up several at a time.

The Arm and Hammer Essentials Laundry detergent is fairly new to the market here and because of that many of the stores have it on special. At $4.99 it's a great bargain. This particular brand is one I am fast becoming dedicated to. It's fresh no nonsense "gentle" scent detergent means that my clothes are coming out of the laundry smelling fresh not like some ode Du Pepe Le pew that is suppose to be reminiscent of jasmine, lilacs or vanilla.

The Arm and Hammer essentials is bringing us back to nature naturally, with non harmful ingredients and natural enzymes this particular detergent is taking a step to become environmentally friendly and take the consideration of those who have chemical sensitivities into consideration.

The bottle is also environmentally friendly, being recyclable which for us is important as well as we are heavy on the recycling circuit.

The clothes I've done so far in this particular detergent have come out very clean with less than 2 capfuls of detergent per load. Without adding any dryer sheets, my laundry comes out with no heavy scent, just a very nicely cleaned smell. I've easily gotten 32 loads from a single bottle of this detergent. So far I've not seen any fading in the darker clothing but I have noticed that white garments are coming out beautifully - crisp and clean.

I do have one caution however, when purchase this brand or any other liquid detergent, always ensure the top is on securely! I found out the hard way when a brand new bottle of Arm and Hammer Essentials poured out all over my carpeted stairway leading to the laundry room - I guess someone had wanted to smell it and decided the cap didn't need to be put back on securely. Of course I shouldn't have grabbed it by the cap alone should I? Even after almost a whole bottle dropped on the carpet however, it soaked up quite well and it even gave my carpets a really great, clean look :)

A great product that is for anyone who would like to get away from all the scents for awhile but wants to have great cleaning power that does what it promises to do.
