Not having a garage is really inconvenient at times and for most of the 18 years we lived on our little acre in Texas we didn't have the luxury of a garage. So, we had to come up with other ways of protecting things like the push mower and lawn furniture. The lawn chairs and swing were not really a problem. They were designed to stand up to the elements and the elements weren't all that severe in central Texas. Meaning, very little ice and snow. The lawn mower though, was a little more difficult to protect and none of the ways we devised were really satisfactory. That is why we decided to buy a storage shed. After some shopping around and determining a budget we decided to buy an Arrow metal storage shed from Lowes. We chose the smallest since it fit our budget best. The 10 X 8 model. It seemed a little small but we figured it would serve our needs fine if we kept everything neat and organized.

Then the nightmare began. We decided to forego the home delivery and installation option and thought we could surely put it together our selves. Yeah, right. Oh we got it together but it took us all day and much sweat and cursing. I highly recommend the home delivery and installation option. The rates vary but usually start at around $40.00.

Once it was assembled it paid for itself in storage convinience in no time. We even bought a riding mower since we now had a place to store it. With careful placement we were able to store a riding mower, a push mower, a chain saw, a metal storage shelf, various tree trimming tools and a five foot latter in our shed. And I even threw some Christmas lights and yard decorations into the mix.

The shed itself held up well. It withstood many Texas sized storms with high winds and hail. We had, of course, tied it down with the metal straps that came with it. It did rust a little and the sliding doors got a little bent up and were a little hard to close sometimes but nothing that was a big deal. It leaked a little when the rain came down really hard but not enough to damage any items inside.

When we drove away from our little Texas acre a year ago the little shed was still standing, none the worse for wear, after 6 years of blistering heat and violent and very windy storms. Overall the Arrow metal storage shed is a good buy and a good product.

Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of my little shed but you can view one at http://www.lowes.com/ key word storage sheds.
