We've recently switch from satellite to fiber optic cable AT&T. It a competitor to other digital cable companies, such as Fios and Comcast. It's not available in all areas and just recently been available to our area. For the receiver box to work properly you have to have a phone jack. The problem with our 3 bedroom apartment is that we don't have one. After calling customer service a couple times since the Uverse receiver would shut down at times, a technician finally found some wires sticking from under my bed and installed a sort of in-placed phone jack. We haven't had any problems since and AT&T has really good customer service. We picked the U200 Pro TV & Internet Bundle. I haven't seen much changes with the internet speed, pages load like always and the download time is the same, but I notice an increase in uploading speed. I could upload files a lot quicker now which saves me a lot of time, I like to share.
With the DVR you can record 4 standard definition shows at the same time and 2 HD shows, you could also choose to record an entire series. The HD isn't the best that I've seen but you can get rid of the bars on the sides, which I couldn't do with my old service. You can select favorite channels and put them on a list, the problem is there is no button on the remote to go directly to the favorites, I thought that was the whole point of having a favorites option was to get easy access to it. The response time is a little slower when exploring the menu but AT&T gives you a list of channels that you have.
The great thing about this is that you don't have to worry about bad weather or trees in the way of your signal.
