Avenue Q is a Broadway musical that is playing at the Golden Theatre in New York City. It is extremely funny and clever, because it is performed with puppets, very similar to something you would see on Sesame Street. But what makes these puppets different is that they are faced with adult problems in the real world, so it is definitely not like anything you would see on Sesame Street. It has a lot of adult humor in it, which is hilarious, but probably inappropriate for young children.
The music in Avenue Q is a lot of fun and has a ton of laugh-out-loud lyrics in them. For example, some song titles are "If You Were Gay" and "The Internet is for Porn." The actors do a terrific job in performing these songs with the puppets. Unlike normal puppets, you actually see the actors holding the puppets. That actually works out well, because rather than just stand there making the puppets move, their faces express what the puppet is saying and feeling too.
Avenue Q is so much fun and it made me laugh a lot. I definitely recommend it to everyone except young children.
