Where do I start with this one? I purchased the laptop in 2005 for $700 at staples. At the time I thought that it was a good deal. For a first laptop it is not bad if you are on a budget. In my case I was replacing a Gateway which is an entirely different story in itself. I wanted a laptop that had an AMD processor not an intel which is why I went with this brand. My husband had an Averatec and was quite happy with it. I thought well my husband has one and is happy why wouldn't I be. I have not had any major problems with mine. The battery life is downright horrible. After a little more than 2 years of using the laptop very frequently my battery died. So I went about trying to locate how to get a battery for this laptop. I wound up having to purchase the battery from Averatec but, it was on backorder it took 3 weeks to get the battery almost 1 month as they had to order from someone else. It is a good thing I had them expidite the shipping as the battery was dead and would not calibrate. Don't get me wrong this computer serves it purpose very well but, replacement parts such as batteries are expensive and take too long to get here. In short for a first computer for someone on a budget it is fine. If you are an experienced user I suggest saving your money and looking elsewhere.
