My daughter just turned five months, but by four she had decided she preferred sitting up to laying down or reclining. So I started looking for an activity centre to give her new things to see and do.
I mainly decided on this one because ate the time, we were about to move and lose access to public transit and the car, and it was the only one available when we were at the store. After we moved we set it up, and right away she enjoyed it. It is brightly coloured, which babies love, and has flashing lights and moving, engaging toys. At five months, she doesn't yet have the skills to play with all the toys, but she loves the keyboard, and enjoys pressing the buttons to make the lights flash and music play. Other toys include a chewy sun that can bend to baby's mouth, toys that spin and clock in place, a mirror with beads to slide and a frog to spin (which the baby LOVES), plastic loops to hang other toys from the overhead bars, and tray space to put other toys or snacks on. The seat spins to allow baby to use all the toys, and is removeable for easy washing. It also bounces like a Jolly Jumper, which many babies find to be great fun, including mine.
The main downside is the size. It is rather large, and while it does fold, it is difficult to get it to do so properly (at least, my husband and I both find it difficult.) However, the enjoyment that baby gets from it makes it a worthwhile purchase, and an upside for parents is the music is very nice classical - a very nice change from the songs usually used in infant toys. I definitely recommend this for anyone expecting a baby, who has a baby, or knows someone who does.
