The Bachelor's Chair is one of the neatest mulit-purpose furniture pieces I've seen. My husband bought this for me several years ago from a local company who made them by hand. We had never seen one before until a few weeks prior to that when we attended a huge craft show and saw one on display there. We thought it was neat.
The chair, which is known by some as Thomas Jefferson's Chair, is a combination chair, ironing board and step stool. It can easily be changed from one to the other by adjusting the wooden knobs on the side and and moving parts around. It is all one piece of furniture that changes without being taken apart.
If not being used for what it was designed for, it makes a great table for decorations, plants, pictures. etc.... Since it can be changed from one form to another, there are many various ways you can use and decorate it. Just use your imagination.
My chair is made of oak and is quite heavy. It has been on display for years, sometimes in the living room and other times in the kitchen. No matter where I put it or how it is arranged, I always enjoy having it.
