I never really considered what socks I should be wearing when I started running last year; shoes, yes, but for socks I just sort of grabbed the first clean pair I saw, and off I went.
That was before I tried a pair of Lady Enduro socks by Balega. I was having problems with blisters on the back of my heel, and under my arch, so I decided to try these socks because they are made for runners. The Lady Enduros are a low-cut sock, which I prefer, but they have a cushioned Achilles heel pad on them to prevent heel blisters- since I have been wearing them, I have not had a single blister since!
The other main feature to these socks is the fact that they are wicking socks- they are made mainly with Drynamix polyester to pull sweat away from your skin, which keep your feet much drier. This helps with blisters, because cotton socks will hold moisture against your skin, and it stretches out when it gets wet, causing friction against your skin. These socks really cured my arch blisters, and just in general feel much more comfortable to run in.
I also love the fact that these Lady Enduros have extra padding on the bottom of the sock, which just makes the pounding your feet get on a run that much more comfortable! I think the price is a little high, at about $8.00 a pair, but they are sooooo worth it! I love them so much that I now wear them everyday- not just to run in anymore. I have washed all of my Balegas numerous times, and they have held up extremely well- the cushioning still is there even after repeated use. Oh, I should note- these socks come in extra small, small, medium and large sizes depending on shoe size; there is a chart on the package to make it easy for you.
I would definitely recommend trying a pair of Balega's Lady Enduros today!
