I was given the DVD of Barbie - Swan Lake by a friend who knew that I had a small collection of Barbie dolls and thought I would get a kick out of watching one of the Barbie movies.
This is really a cute movie. Young girls who are fans of Barbie would love this. The colors are beautiful, and the story is very nice. Barbie is Odette, the daughter of a baker. She is changed into a swan by an evil wizard, Rothbart, who wants to rule the forest and defeat the Fairy Queen. Through the Fairy Queen's intervention, Barbie only becomes a swan by day and stays in human form at night. Barbie learns that she should be the one to save the Enchanted Forest from the wizard, even though she doesn't feel that she is the person for the job. And throughout all of this, Prince Daniel is falling in love with her.
This is a nice story, comprised of ballet and the music of Tchaikovsky, which is performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. The movie is 83 minutes long and has special features as well, such as full and widescreen versions, interactive menus, a documentary, and more.
This was a movie I enjoyed watching, even at my age. I know young girls would enjoy it very much.
