I am a true beauty product junkie, so it wasn't long after I first saw the infomercials for bareMinerals that I had to order the full kit. The kit comes with 3 powders (two foundations shades you can mix together to get the perfect tone for your skin, and a mineral veil powder to finish the face once you have applied your foundation powder) and 2 brushes that you use to apply your powders. I still use the original brushes that came with my kit, even after buying other brushes from other brands I found the original kabuki brush that comes with the kit is my favorite and provides the most even coverage.

The product itself is my daily foundation. I use it year round and love it more than any other foundation I've tried (and I've tried tons). It goes on light, but is heavy enough to cover blemishes. I love how because it's a mineral powder it provides coverage but doesn't settle into cracks or dry skin flakes. The color ranges meet most any person's skin tone but someone who is especially pale will have to buy the lightest powder, which doesn't come in the kit form.

The scent is not overly perfumey or overpowering, which is good because I am allergic to most everything and don't like heavily scented face products or cosmetics.

The only real draw-backs to this product are the packaging and the random itchiness wearing the powder can cause. Because the powder is supposed to be sifted into its lid and then applied with brushes, you may sometimes have too much powder left over in your lid. You can't easily put it back into the container without getting it everywhere. So if you sift too much out, you can make a mess. This can be avoided by only sifting a little bit at a time and just sifting a little more out if you still need it to complete the coverage of your face. The random itchiness is something myself as well as friends have noticed. Sometimes your face may feel a little itchy after a long day's wear of the powders. I don't know if it's a small allergy I may have to the product or just the minerals IN the powder. But it's not enough of an annoyance to keep me from using the product daily.

This is my favorite foundation by far. I've been using it for 5 years and will continue to use it. The price may seem steep, but the powder really does last forever. You will get at least a year's worth of use out of your first kit and then you can just buy refill powders while continuing to use your brushes. I love this product and definitely recommend it!
