Bath Basics has a line of lotions that are supposed to affect your mood. I decided to try the “Unwind” body lotion last winter. The lotion was pretty nice, though I don’t know how much it really helped me relax.
First off, the price is great. 3 bucks for 16oz of lotion is a great price. It isn’t like the lotion is terribly cheaply made, though it is made of all synthetic ingredients (except for the water). I was very satisfied with the value of my purchase. I still have plenty left now, even.
The lotion itself is a little above standard for a generic nice-smelling lotion. It’s not overly oily or greasy, which is nice. It also does a pretty good job of moisturizing. It’s a nice lotion to have in the winter to stave off chapped elbows and knees. It doesn’t overly soften your skin, but it does make your dried out skin feel a lot better. The scent is nice, too. It’s spearmint and sage mixed with some other scents I can’t recognize. It has a pleasant herbal smell that actually does seem to help you relax.
That brings me to the one major downside of this product- the scent is really, really strong. You can’t use more then a squirt of it without reeking of the stuff. If you don’t like heavy scents, you will not like using this product. It helps you relax, but it will give you even more of a headache if you’re in a place without ventilation.
In the end, I think your enjoyment of this product will hinge on your enjoyment of the scent. If you like it, you’ll love having a big bottle of it. If you don’t…well, at least the bottle will last you a while.
