Battlefield 2142 is Electronic Arts' latest entry into the Battlefield series, bringing squad-based combat to a futuristic setting. Combat revolves around two sides fighting for control around the planet, using a variety of vehicles to fight, guard, or transport troops around the map with. Tanks, mechs, air vehicles, it's all here. One person takes on the role of the Commander, who oversees from a satellite view, dishing out instructions.
The meat of the game is multiplayer, as single player is really multiplayer against bots. There's already an expansion pack out, and with quite a few modes and maps it's not going to get boring anytime soon. Finding a good server with team players takes the game from just being another shoot-em-up to a squad based, ass-kicking romp, where each victory feels like something special.
My only complains is that the graphics aren't that mindblowing, and the animation system still seems buggy and glitchy, but you'll hardly notice because your too busy reviving teammates and setting up perimeter defenses.
